We are happy to announce that Canoo memberships have been extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic for all members who were active between March 15, 2020 and July 31, 2020.
Please note that this is a one-time extension due to the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the complicated nature of implementing these extensions, we will be unable to offer membership extensions again in the future. We appreciate your understanding.
Who have received an extension to their membership?
All Canoo members who were an active member at any point during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown between March 15, 2020 and July 31. 2020. Affected members who subscribe to our emails should have received an email notifying them that they have received an extension on the afternoon of August 20, 2020.
Can members who expired previous to March 15, 2020 or registered after July 31, 2020 receive extensions?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer membership extensions to members whose memberships expired before March 15, 2020 nor members who registered after July 31, 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience.
How long are membership extended by?
Affected Canoo members have received an extension to their membership for anywhere between 30 days and 4.5 months depending on the length of time that they were an active member during the COVID-19 pandemic (between March 15, 2020 and July 31, 2020). For example, if you registered on the Canoo app prior to March 15, 2020 and expire(d) after July 31, 2020, you received an extension of your membership by 4.5 months. If you registered prior to March 15, 2020 and expired before July 31, 2020, your Canoo membership was extended anywhere from 30 days to 4.5 months based on the amount of time between March 15, 2020 and your expiry.
When was the extension applied to my membership?
The extension was applied to affected member's memberships on August 20, 2020.
It’s after August 20, 2020 but I can't see the extension on my membership - why?
Firstly, please note that only members who were active between March 15, 2020 and July 31, 2020 received an extension; affected members who subscribe to our emails will have received an email notifying them that they have received an extension on August 20, 2020. If you received the email (or do not subscribe to our emails but were an active member between March 15 and July 31, 2020), but your date of expiry in the Canoo app is still the one-year anniversary of your citizenship date, you must refresh your Canoo app to view the new date. Please log out of your Canoo app, close your app, wait 5 minutes, then re-open and log back in to see the changes. If you still do not see the correct date, please uninstall and reinstall the Canoo app. If you have tried both of these suggestions and continue to have trouble, please get in touch with us here.
When can I start using my extended membership?
Right away! However, we recommend that you check the website of the venue or call ahead before you visit. Always follow the rules and recommendations set out by the venue to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of staff and other visitors, such as wearing a mask, maintaining a distance of 2 meters, and regularly washing your hands.
Were membership extensions also applied to VIA Rail discounts?
Yes, Canoo members who received an extension to their Canoo membership can see that same extension applied to their VIA Rail discount in the Canoo app. Canoo members must book and travel with this VIA Rail discount before their expiry date. I am eligible for the extension but I deleted the Canoo app from my phone, can I still get my extension?
Although you deleted the Canoo app from your phone, your account was not deleted; all you have to do is re-download Canoo and login to you account. If you have trouble remembering your password, you can always reset it.
